We know that by the time you’ve finished your final draft, you’re too close to your creation to notice the little things that can make all the difference.

What happens when you copy-edit my writing?

A copy-edit (or a line-edit) is a thorough review of your draft to correct errors, and identify and fix confusing sentences or paragraphs. It’s a line-by-line tidy-up of your draft.

Copy-editing asks and answers the following questions:

• Is the meaning of that sentence clear?
• Can that paragraph be expressed more concisely?
• Are the sentences too long? Too short? Too complicated?
• Is there a transition missing between those two points?

Do you provide feedback on the overall structure of my novel, report or essay?

No. Copy-editing does NOT include structural editing. It does not deal with plot, structure, characterisation or “point of view”.

How can I see what you’ve edited?

We provide you with suggestions via the “tracked changes” and “comment” functions in Microsoft Word. We are unable to provide this feedback in any other format.

Once you receive the annotated draft, you can choose to accept or reject each edit. We recognise it's your decision whether or not to take our suggestions on board. This service does not include one-on-one discussion or personalised instruction on WHY the corrections have been made.

We won’t demand rights or recognition in your work. We won’t share your ideas, research or writing with anyone. It’s your writing, we just want to help you make it as good as it can possibly be.
