I’ve had a busy few weeks doing a lot of training in business writing. One of my passions is helping people make their jobs easier – and sometimes that means equipping them with tools and skills to improve their writing.
I particularly enjoy teaching How to Write Media Releases – a half day seminar designed to teach you how to get your message in the media, understand what editors want and tailor your media release to maximize opportunities to get into the press.
You'll
leave the seminar full of ideas on how to get your organization in the
media; smart angles to pitch to editors, and take-home tools you can
use immediately.
It’s ideal for anyone who wants to understand how the media works and wants to write media releases that get results.
When: Wednesday 29 November 2006
Time: 9.00am-1.00pm
Cost: $165

Since summer is right around the corner, we’re running an Opening Paragraph Competition. Just write an opening paragraph to a short story or novel around the theme of summer. The most compelling opening paragraph will win the book.
Entries should be emailed to: tracy@spindriftmedia.com.au by 5pm Friday 17 November and the winner will be announced in the next newsletter. And if you are feeling particularly prolific, that's okay. You can enter as many Opening Paragraphs as you like.
So
effectively, my trip was paid for! If you’d like to learn how
make money from your travels, Cameron Duffy will show you how at our Travel Writing seminar. He will cover:
• What it takes to be a travel writer
• Finding and focusing your story (the right subject,
travel trends, developing your story)
• What kind of travel stories editors want
• Getting published and making contacts
• Writing for travel guidebooks
Learn from a pro and you’ll discover how to fund (or partially fund) your trip by writing about it.
