We're thrilled to hear that Samantha Brett's blog ASK SAM! on The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age websites is ranked #1 media blog in Australia. Sam is a former student of the Sydney Writers' Centre and a very gifted writer with a keen insight into the dating world. Congratulations Sam!Sam's blog has been a great springboard into other things. She's appeared on the Today Show, The John Laws breakfast show, A Current Affair, Australia’s Next Top Model, ABC Radio, The Edge Radio, E! News and more.
And if you asked Sam about what she thought of the course at the Sydney Writers' Centre, what would she say?
"The course at the Sydney Writers' Centre helped me brush up my writing skills and reminded me about the joys of feature writing. Valerie's infectious enthusiasm reminded me why I got into writing in the first place!"

Mitch Lewis in Madison magazine
Have you got a copy of the November issue of Madison magazine? It features former Sydney Writers’ Centre student Mitch Lewis who has been shortlisted as a potential candidate for The Madison Male. Basically, the magazine is looking for an excellent male writer to contribute a monthly column. Here’s the email I got from James when he found out the news ...
Hi Valerie,
I went to Pamela Freeman's Creative Writing course in June. A friend at work told me about a male columnist's gig that was going at a woman's mag so I entered it, thinking what the heck.
I used some of the techniques she taught me to polish and make my application a bit livelier and as you can see below I'm going to be published and shortlisted! I don't make New Year's resolutions but I made an exception this year and it was to be published. Resolution achieved!
Thanks to yourself and Pamela for your help.
Cheers
Mitch
