Another student gets published
I was thrilled this week to receive this email from former student, Carolyn:
Hi Valerie,
Thanks to your support and inspiration, I am now officially able to join the ranks of your published former students.
If not for your very clear message that there is so much material being published that there is definitely work out there for those who want it, I would have given up, thinking it is a closed shop.
Anyway, thanks for your support - here's the link to what I hope is the first of many.
Cheers,
Carolyn Swindell

Get your message in the media – Seminar: How to write media releases
If
you want to get your message or organization in the media –

The half-day seminar is ideal if you want to:

Carolyn Dean, Inner Focus says:
“It was very professional and the notes were great. The seminar was fantastic - I would highly recommend this to others.”
Verity Lomax says:
“The
whole day was kept interesting by the fact that many of the points that

painted an exciting picture of the media world.
“The
folder was very handy enabling you to follow the points being made
easily and also a good reference point for the future. The seminar was
to the straight forward and to the point. Valerie has clearly has a lot
of experience in the field so I feel like she passed on the lessons that she has learnt over the years, but summarised them into half a day!”

Although they are headquartered in Adelaide, Wet Ink accepts submissions from around the country. This is a wonderful opportunity for emerging writers to get published.
You can check out their website at www.wetink.com.au. We're also waiting for a list of stores where you can buy Wet Ink in Sydney and, once we receive that, I'll post it on our blog.
Freelance Journalist / Copywriter wanted
I
received this earlier this week so am putting it on this newsletter in
case you are interested … (Please contact the firm directly).
We
are a boutique fashion accessory company based in Sydney who is
currently updating their website. We are looking for a writer to put an
e-book together which conveys our concepts, beliefs and style in an
exciting and engaging manner. As we are a company in our first few
months, our budget is limited therefore this project would suit some
one who is open to an exciting project, or who is starting off and
wishes to expand their portfolio. We will pay you though! Knowledge of
French would also be advantageous but not essential. I estimate that
the project would take 5 working days to complete and that would
consist of 50+ pages. Of course on initial meeting we would
map out a more definite time scale.
Please email me for more information at janine@goodsir.com.au or call 0402 723 363

This intensive course is already attracting enrollment from interstate so make sure you register your interest. It will be an Intensive daytime SUMMER SESSION – over five consecutive days in January 2007.
The course will cover the same content as the regular Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers course.
When: Monday 15 to Friday 19 January 2007 everyday
Time: 9.30am-11.30am
Cost: $395
If you’d to enroll, please call us on (02) 9929 9237 or visit our website.
