Dear Fellow Writer,
In this issue:- Write for HarperCollins
- Interesting blog for freelance writers
- How to write polished documents at work
- Another student success
- Looking for freelance writers
- Win a double pass

I hope you’ve been having a good week. I’ve been busy editing a magazine and we’ve been on a tight deadline – but it’s been good fun. It’s very satisfying seeing your ideas transform into reality on the pages of a glossy magazine.
I’ve also squeezed in the time to go to Hobart to do a couple of stories for The Sydney Morning Herald and an international publication. One of the wonderful things about being a writer is that you get to talk to amazing people – and sometimes you even get to meet your heroes. I got to do just that a few days ago and I’m still walking on air from the experience.
Anyhow, hope you enjoy this edition of Get Published – and also hope to see you soon at the Centre.
“Thanks to your fabulous class on feature writing … I was published in the Marie Claire Magazine ... Thank you for the skills and knowledge you gave me to be empowered to write this and then to feel confident that I could approach the magazine. I was so happy with the outcome.”
Beata Vitas – Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers
"It was a really fun, relaxed and positive environment. Valerie's anecdotes and stories provided fantastic insight into the world of freelance writing. I was grateful for Valerie's feedback on the profile assignment."

Helping you write your non-fiction book
This week, I received an enquiry from someone who wants to write a non fiction book. They wanted to know which course would best suit them.If you’re writing a non-fiction book that’s a business book, self-help or documentation of an event, I recommend the course Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers. This course teaches you the fundamentals of non-fiction writing from a journalistic point of view. You learn about how to structure your articles, what kind of information you need and what you need to do to make your writing sparkle.
Often, book chapters are like a series of articles so you can approach each chapter - or sections within a
chapter - in a similar way as you would write a feature article.
