I'm not sure why apostrophes are so misused but everywhere you look there are errant apostrophes all over the place. Can you see what's wrong with this sign which I found in
Crows Nest in Sydney?
If you said that it should read:
parties instead of party's - then you are right!
Remember that just because a word has an 's' at the end doesn't mean you need to use an apostrophe.
Apostrophes are used to indicate possession (as in John's car). Or they are used in contractions (as in it's being a contraction of it is).

One of the best things about summer is outdoor cinemas. I love grabbing a bottle of wine, picnic blanket, nibblies (and Aerogard) to watch a movie with friends.Starlight Cinema 2008 Leichhardt Oval Season has a great line-up of movies under the stars. Opening night of Starlight Cinema’s Leichhardt Oval is Tuesday 15 January 2008.
This year, the line-up includes movies like Into the Wild (which I can’t wait to see), Jerry Seinfeld’s new Bee Movie, The Home Song Stories and more.
Starlight Cinema gates and the Dining Terrace open from 7pm each night. Tickets for are available online from $16 or from the gate each night from $20.
